WHAT IS IT
Created in 2022, the WEG Carbon Neutral Program was born with the objective of mobilizing efforts so that the company could achieve the established goals for reducing GHG emissions for the entire WEG group, globally, covering more than 130 locations in 40 countries.
WEG's targets of reducing operational emissions by 52% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 are aligned with the global climate ambitions of the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit the increase in average global temperature to 1.5°C.
In the first two years of the Program, significant results have already been achieved, with a reduction of 25% in emissions compared to the base year (2021), equivalent to 37,000 tons of CO2e, in addition to more than 800 GHG emission reduction projects mapped in WEG operations globally.
Below are some examples of implemented projects:
RESULTS AND OBJECTIVES
WEG has the following commitments to Carbon Neutrality in its Operations:
• To ensure the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, promoting carbon neutrality in operations and contributing to global medium- and long-term goals.
• Expand the use of renewable energies (purchased or self-produced) in addition to seeking excellence in operational efficiency in processes and business.
Main expected results:
Achieve 52% of GHG reduction (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2030 and net-zero by 2050.
To promote a reduction in the energy consumption of the company's business and operations.;
To promote the diversification of energy sources for the company's business and operations towards clean energy (generated from low-impact renewable sources).
Results obtained:
Reduction of GHG emissions by 25% (from 2021 to 2023)
